The domed top of the cover finely decorated featuring a central winged mythical creature with a raised paw and an open mouth displaying sharp fangs, surrounded by intricate foliate scrolls and blossoms along the outer border, the box base finely decorated showcasing a central flower head encircled by six large flower motifs , all highlighted in gilding and reserved on a fine ring-punched ground. Tang Dynasty period.
