Chinese. Each of flattened double-gourd form, one side worked with the characters tian xi ('heavenly bliss') in seal script on the upper and lower bulbs respectively, the other similarly inscribed with da ji ('great happiness') in regular script, the reverse decorated with flower jars, books, vases, fruits on a table in lower bulb, below the Imperial inscriptions dedicated to the Emperor by the high ranking official, the stone is of evenly polished and translucent white tone, zitan frame and stand. Mid-Qing Dynasty period.

葫蘆有著吉祥如意、福祿雙全的美好寓意。早於《詩經》裡就有大量對葫蘆的記載，《邶風》雲：「匏有苦葉，濟有涉深」；《幽風》雲：「七月食瓜，八月斷壺」；《小雅》雲：「南有木，甘瓠累之」。其中的「匏」、「壺」、「甘瓠」均指葫蘆，可見中國人對葫蘆的認知至少已有兩千多年的積澱。除實用功效外，葫蘆因其獨有的外形與特性，又被先人賦予了許多美好寓意。葫蘆形象盛行於五代同堂的乾隆晚期的宮廷藝術品中，葫蘆的造型像極了漢字「吉」字，故又名「大吉」，加之每個成熟的葫蘆裡葫蘆籽眾多，象徵著福祿綿長、子孫萬代、大吉大利。 「大吉」字樣與「葫蘆」造型相配合的設計成為清代較為典型及常用的吉祥圖案。乾隆皇帝曾作詩詠嘆了多件葫蘆造型的器皿。本器用上等和田白玉製作而成，溫和潤澤，宛若凝脂，玉色冰潔無暇，純淨白皙。器呈葫蘆型，頂部左右兩邊雕飾“蝙蝠”，邊框裝飾“迴紋”，束頸及腹部繫帶。正面以“如意云紋”開窗分別書“大吉”“天喜”二字，字體蒼勁有力，筆鋒迴轉之處流暢舒展。反面上部分別開窗御題詩文“御製 福並海山增寶帙,壽同松柏映瑤階 臣曹文植敬書”“交泰三陽肇羲象,斂時五福協箕疇 臣曹文植敬書”，字體雄勁有力。下部分開窗雕刻“文房清供圖”，“松樹”“蘭草”“條案”“佛手”“書籍”“玉磬”“賞石”“如意”“水盂”“梅花”等，為典型宮廷陳設，極具高雅富貴之氣。配紫檀架子，架子鏤雕飾“夔龍紋”“蝙蝠紋”等，做工精細，極為精美，奢華大氣，成對保存完好，極甚罕見，為乾隆宮廷最高水平的玉雕精品。來源: 華盛頓貝爾維尤私人收藏
