The rounded sides supported on four short feet, intricately carved in relief to the interior with lingzhi heads and orchids issuing from rockwork below in-relief, the body flanked by pair of mythical beast head handles suspended with loose rings. The underside incised with a three character mark. Mid-Qing Dynasty period.

清代內廷玉作有了充足的玉料，和闐美玉的大量輸入，加之宮廷的大力提倡，使得這 一時期的玉器生產出現了高潮。玉器題材的廣泛，數量的巨大，工藝的高超都是前所未有的。玉洗乃是文房用具，是文人們在書房盛水洗筆之器，所以又被稱為筆洗。玉筆洗從唐代開始 逐漸增多，到明清時代達到高峰。玉製文房用具在宮廷中佔有一定的位置，這與清代乾隆皇 帝愛玉賞玉有很大的關係。而以乾隆皇帝為代表的上層社會對玉器的推崇更使文房用具成為 玉器精湛工藝的載體。此器以上等和闐白玉製成，用料珍稀，潔白如脂，溫潤光澤， 光華晶透。此洗敞口，弧壁淺腹，底承四足。洗心內浮雕飾“靈芝”“蘭草”“山石”，靈動 傳神，線條流暢，靈芝飽滿，枝葉舒展。飾雙獸耳銜環，雕琢精緻華麗，雙獸威武神秘。本 品華美優雅，技藝超凡，底部陰 刻“宜子孫”方型款識。 “宜子孫”印文：乾隆喜歡在上等書畫上蓋上“宜子孫”的璽印， 有希望子孫好好守護愛惜物品之意。 來源：重要紐約私人玉器收藏
