此剔紅盤呈圓形，盤心以一朵盛開的牡丹花為主體紋飾，牡丹枝葉舒捲自如，外壁雕刻纏枝紋，底露黑漆，斷紋自然。圈足“大明宣德年制”款識。全器漆色鮮紅，色彩純正，佈局層次分明，刀法濃厚婉轉，磨工精細圓潤，頗為珍罕。
