Carved out of a single natural aloeswood piece, standing upon a single lotus throne, the wrathful divinity holds a vajra on right primary hand, with an elephant skin stretched across his back and wearing a large necklace of severed heads, snakes and various adornments, the ferocious face detailed with three eyes and an open mouth, the flaming hair crowned with a tiara. The back of the plinth finely inscribed with an Imperial inscription dated to seventeenth year of Qianlong reign. Qing Dynaty Qianlong period.

大黑天梵文音譯為瑪哈噶拉，起源於印度，原為財富之神、戰神，傳入西藏成為藏傳佛教中護法大神，具有帳房保護神、戰神的屬性。此尊由整塊沉香雕刻而成，怒發呈火焰狀，蹙眉瞋目，捲舌咧口，獠牙外露。身披象皮，項掛人頭蔓，珮飾瓔珞釧環，底座背面刻御題跋，雕刻精細入微，動態感強，用料大方，十分稀有。
