Each Dzi bead is of short cylindrical egg-like form. The exterior bears the natural 'tiger teeth' pattern of alternating white and brownish black bands, with numerous tiny red 'blood spots' distributed unevenly on the surface, and 'fish scale'-like patterns throughout. Ming Dynasty period.

Known for its resemblance to the shape of tiger teeth, the current tiger-teeth Dzi bead exhibits fine and smooth texture, clear veins, and excellent contrast between black and white strips. Under different light sources, the surface exhibits greasy luster and weathered cracks. A closer look at the current piece also shows the various 'cinnabar spots' randomly distributed upon the surface. With the characteristics above in addition to the fact that it comes as a pair, the current piece is considered to be one of the finest and rarest Dzi beads.
