A CHINESE CARVED IVORY GUANYIN AND CHILD FIGURAL GROUP     清 象牙雕童子拜送子觀音像

This wonderful ivory figural group includes a large, full sized Guanyin, and a smaller child, both with creamy yellow patina, slightly curved, and stand on the same intricately carved base. The Guanyin has a tall headdress, with a seated Buddha in front, wears long and elaborate robe slightly showing her bare feet, and adorn many smaller ornaments, strings, and necklace. She smiles with serene expression, and holds a young child on lotus pad with both hands, signifying her symbol as fulfilling prayers for birth. The young boy next to her is also smiling sincerely, two hands together in praying, and dressed in heavenly clothes, including leave-knitted garment around his waist and flowing silk bands. The hard wood stand is pierce carved, resembling stream of water passing through rocks, while Lingzhi, peaches, and pine trees situated around it. Qing Dynasty period.
