The circular body set with a large central raised medallion decorated with a Ying-Yang symbol surrounded by the Eight Buddhist Emblems, bajixiang reserved on turquoise blue ground, the narrow sides are decorated with interlinked key-fret and scrolling foliage pattern below the pair of phoenix-form handles that flank the neck, the interior and base of the vase richly gilted. Qing Dynasty Qianlong period, 18th century.

抱月瓶外形最早源自宋元時期流行於西夏的陶製馬掛瓶，左右雙系，用以掛於馬鞍之側，極具民族特色。明代以青花為裝飾，結合抱月瓶自身獨特風格，將色彩與器形完美融於一體，使其發展成為陳設用的藝術品。抱月瓶以永宣時期最負盛名，其中蒜頭口抱月瓶於康熙、雍正兩朝多有仿製。乾隆皇帝更是喜愛有加，因此抱月瓶成為清代乾隆一朝重要的陳設瓷器之一。此掐絲琺瑯抱月瓶造型十分罕見，縱覽各大博物館及市場記錄，未見第二例。器型碩大，其中央凸起飾八卦紋，外環飾八吉祥紋，以拐子龍紋相間隔。此類八吉祥紋飾大多僅見於宮廷瓷器。整體以湖蓝色做地，底足鎏金厚實，做工繁複精湛，為乾隆宮廷琺瑯器代表之作。可比較台北國立故宮博物院藏掐絲琺瑯抱月瓶（圖1.），以及北京故宮博物院藏乾隆官窯青花瓷八吉祥抱月瓶（圖2.） 來源：紐約顯赫藏家收藏, 早年得於歐洲, 後傳承至今
