窯變釉是雍正時唐英督理景德鎮禦窯廠時仿鈞窯釉色所繁衍出的一個創新品種,《唐英瓷 務年譜長編》中記載,唐英于雍正七年三月,“派廠署幕友吳荛圃調查鈞窯器釉料配制方法”, 成功燒制出這一品種,並多次奉命燒造。 此瓶形似三個葫蘆重疊而成,制作難度大,工藝高超,是乾隆時期新創形制的一種。外壁 通施窯變釉,釉汁肥厚斑斓,幾縷天藍色釉下垂形成藍色條形裝飾,與器身紅釉烘托出明亮 豔麗的熱烈氣氛。其紅釉如初凝牛血,藍釉如佛頭青色,兩色暈散交融,紅藍相間,斑斓交 融,妍麗濃烈,燦若晚霞,足內施醬釉。整體造型俊秀,挺拔大方,極富凝重古樸之感,色 澤豔麗,獨一無二,“乾隆年制”暗款。
