百寶嵌工藝出現於明代，它是在螺鈿鑲嵌工藝的基礎上，加入寶石、象牙、珊瑚以及玉石等材料形成的鑲嵌工藝，用百寶嵌成的圖案花紋會隨著照射光線角度的變化，發出各種各樣的光彩，主要出現在中國古典家具以及工藝美術品上。進入清代以後，百寶嵌發展成為清宮造辦處製作的重要鑲嵌技術之一。本品用材考究，製作複雜，設計端莊典雅，佈局疏密相間，色彩鮮明，巧妙利用松石、蜜蠟、瑪瑙、珊瑚、碧玉、青金石等材質描繪“花鳥”“樹木”“花朵”“山石”。造型規矩，端莊大方，穩重典雅，工藝極其複雜。帶有鏤雕花卉紋木座。
