The rounded crestrail with outswept hand grips reinforced by metal mounts, the splat set with panel depicting chilong, the arms supported by curved extensions of the front legs, the slatted seat above the cylindrical legs set into the rectangular base stretchers, the front stretcher beneath a footrest mounted with a rectangular openwork metal fitting of interlocking lozenges.

家具收藏中，交椅無疑是收藏家的終極夢想，交椅是可以折疊的坐具。宋金時期，人們從席地而坐轉變為垂足而坐，高座具已經十分普及。從西方傳至中國的交杌，亦演化成帶後背的交椅。交椅是中國傳統文化的產物，是藝術與實用緊密結合的典範。圓後背交椅被推崇為中國古典家具最優秀經典之椅型。此類椅具常見於明清時期之畫中為皇帝與皇後的專貴坐具。此拍品交椅為七接圈，圈形圓轉大氣，扶手處做成鱔魚頭式。靠背板S 形，貼合坐者脊背，背板上部雕對稱龍紋，中部圓形開光雕“卷草龍紋”，威而不猛，尚有明代意趣，下部為如意形壸門。扶手下與支撐構件處及背板接入椅圈處皆有黃銅葉片包裹加強穩固。前後腿斜向交叉，可自由開合。前方腿足下方又設腳踏。腳踏獨板為面，里側出頭為軸，納入腿足，可以轉動收起，下方設壺門牙板，和插肩榫式短足。腳踏展開時，短足正好落在前方托泥之上。整體尺寸碩大，比例勻稱，制作精美，保存良好，是身份和地位的象征，俗語有“第一把交椅”之說。
