Qing Dynasty period. Of lobed form, the cover is finely carved in low relief with a quadrilobed medallion constituted of archaistic scrolls within keyfret border, the base inscribed with a poem in running script.

竹黃作為一門獨立的竹雕刻藝術，始於清初而盛於乾、嘉時期。所謂竹黃，即竹之內皮，淺黃色，色澤光潤，又有“文竹”、“貼黃”、“翻黃”等稱。以南竹為材料，將新鮮的竹黃片，經過水煮、晾乾、壓平等工序，然後貼到各種形狀的器物上。本品以竹黃雕製而成，有取竹樹氣節清高之意，型作海棠，以子母口相合。通身貼竹簧，色澤光潤，清淡幽雅。蓋鈕沿邊繪“迴紋”一周，內繪“纏枝紋”“花卉紋”，背刻文字。紋飾清晰，排列規矩，工藝精製，細緻入微。
