Qing Dynasty period. The boulder is carved with figures sitting in a canopied boat on a river below overhanging rocks in a mountainous landscape. The reverse is carved in relief with figures and pine trees. There is an gilt incised imperial poem with two seal marks. All supported on hardwood stand.

山子，古人謂之假山，是文人書房中常見之雅設，多以山水畫為據，使突兀嶙峋之畫面躍然成體，秀麗於書案之前，使人觀之如山，有如神遊妙境。本器玉質潔白，通體純淨、打磨光亮細膩、雕刻嫻熟、佈局清新脫俗，山子依玉材形狀琢雕成聳立山峰狀，山石陡峭，凹凸有致。整個畫面以文人水墨畫的方式展開細節，用小舟欲行作為情節鋪墊，又間以山崖峭壁、青草叢生，潺潺碧流。整器佈局平穩合理，情節疏密有致，既有效的張揚了故事情節，又巧妙的表現了玉雕藝術作品所特有富貴豪奢的視覺活力。添金刻乾隆御題詩句，“山陽舟泛山陰陸,秋水冬峰景頓移。試問丹青工幻者,可能一幅幻如斯。“乾隆御題”。來源: 紐約重要藏家收藏
