Rising from concave base to straight rim, the exterior body finely carved in high relief with seven seated buddha figures, each rested upon lotus throne and with hands in different mutra, flanked and below buddhist inscriptions in green pigment. The wood is of characteristic aroma of aloeswood. Qing Dynasty Qianlong period.

七佛鉢是清宮禮祭七佛的重要器物之一，從現存數據所示，其取材分別有棕竹、紅木、沉香、雕漆八寶及玉，其形制分別有體圓、壁直、平口；圓體、斂口、平定及蓮瓣式等。沉香為名貴的香料，是瑞香科植物分泌的樹脂類物質，只有當樹受到侵害，和昆蟲咬噬時才會分泌，需數十年甚至上百年才能形成，而且材料越大越是稀有，因此自古為世人所重。此拍品：沉香迦楠不雕佛偈文七佛鉢以罕見之大塊沉香木整挖雕琢而成，用材碩大，雖經曆數百年，摩挲中仍散發出幽幽淡香，極為少見。用刀犀利，渾然天成。鉢外壁七佛上方及兩側以隷書陰刻佛名及佛偈文字。佛像法相莊嚴，面目沉寂。此鉢形器取材別緻，為罕見的佛教題材用品。參考：清乾隆“青玉七佛缽”藏於蘇州博物館。清“棕竹製七佛缽”，藏於北京故宮博物院。 來源: 北加州重要私人藏家提供
