In August of 1945, Zhang Daqian (1899-1983) has completed Dunhuang trip and traveling to Lanzhou to prepare his first Dunhuang Frescoes art exhibition. Figure painting "Two Scholars Under the Pine Tree" was created at the time with Zhang’s unique iron-line drawing style which depicted the scholars lofty and noble spirit. This is a fine work of art because she represents the perfect balance between aesthetics and philosophy, visual arts and study of art, as well as inward feelings and outward objects."

張大千松蔭二高圖 設色紙本 立軸 1943 130.5 * 33 cm款識：閑吟策杖倚天風，絕頂高攀百尺松。癸未八月遷暑成都，戲效劉松年筆並拈小詩。大千 張爰。鈐印： 「張爰私印」白文方印張大千長幸大吉又日利」白文方印「松蔭二高圖」作於1943年8月，此時張大千結束了敦煌禮佛之旅，與家屬及學生等人一行已在蘭州並正籌備畫展。 「松蔭二高圖」畫中描繪一高士手持拐杖，另一高士手握畫卷，彼此互相往後凝視遠方，作沉思狀。二高士衣紋線條似鐵線般的流暢而有力度。古松蒼勁奇崛，堅勁挺拔。作者以蒼松襯托高士的胸襟，實為抒發二位高士的處世態度。此幅畫構圖簡潔，空曠幽雅，意境清逸。人物、蒼松以寫意為主，用筆簡練，揮灑自如，工寫兼備，別具一格。 來源：洛杉磯韓裔家族收藏
