This magnificent thangka is finely embroidered with the central figure of thousand armed Avalokiteshvara dressed in elaborate robes and adorned with jewelry, with eleven faces and numerous hands extending out with an eye stitched on the hand, surrounded by various attendants and buddhist deities against a landscape of rocks and trees blowing scrolling clouds, all below a panel with inscription stitched in Chinese, Tibetan, Manchurian dated the forty-fifth year of Qianlong. 千手觀音，又稱千手千眼觀世音、千眼千臂觀世音等。據佛教典籍記載，千手觀音的千手錶示遍護眾生，千眼則表示遍觀世間，其形象顯示了觀音非凡的濟世功德。 《陀羅尼經》認為千手千眼觀世音能利益安樂一切眾生，隨眾生之機，相應五部五種法，而滿足一切願求。只要虔誠地信奉，千手觀音都能大發慈悲，解除諸般苦難，廣施百般利樂，有“息災”，“增益”，“敬愛”，“降伏”等四大好處。本唐卡尺幅巨大，正中的千手觀音立於赤蓮花上，具十一面，呈五層排列，底部三層均為三面，分別為慈悲、悲哀、微笑像，第四層為單面像，呈現忿怒明王形，最上一層是頂嚴，為阿彌陀佛，是為脩大乘的眾生所作的說法相。主尊頭戴五葉寶冠，身披帔帛，下著長裙，衣飾繁縟，衣紋流暢。面相飽滿，體態端正，佩帶有耳飾、臂圈、手釧；當胸寶珠與瓔珞環繞。觀音當胸雙手合未敷蓮掌，四臂各持法物，千手從背後層層疊疊鋪開，其針角細密、排列整齊，宛如孔雀開屏，美妙動人而又氣勢恢弘。上方有六方佛環繞，依次是阿彌陀佛，阿閦佛，釋迦牟尼佛，毗盧遮那佛，寶生佛和不空成就佛。下方左側八世達賴喇嘛強白嘉措手持白蓮花，下方右側為上師。畫像上方綉漢滿蒙藏四體文字，題記“乾隆四十五年四月二十日”款。此件拍品綉工極為繁複精緻，人物法相端莊優美，線條流暢，整體上構圖嚴謹，嚴格按照相關儀軌織就，表現出令人歎為觀止的工藝水準，保存完好，十分難得。
