The deity is modelled seated in royal posture on a recumbent lion, wearing long flowing robes with cold-gilt hems, the face with a meditative expression framed by a high hooded cowl. The beast with bulging eyes framed by bushy eyebrows and beard in tight curls, incised with four character inscription signed Wei Kaitong, accompanied with a fitted box. Qing Dynasty period.

此件作品取材上品壽山石圓雕而成，質地堅實細膩，如脂如膏，表面光潔溫潤，通透明媚。如此石材表達佛教的空靈與慈悲最為合適。文殊菩薩慈悲寧靜、莊重祥和，雙手置於膝蓋之上，悠然自得，安坐於迴首怒吼獅背上，雄獅怒目圓瞪，蓄勢待發，極具震撼力。文殊身著天衣綢裙，紋飾清晰細緻，整體有部分泥金。雄獅背部“魏開通制”款識。配靈芝海水紋木座，工藝精緻。細觀此作，可見其深厚的功力。魏開通，清康熙年間人。師承楊璇，擅長人物圓雕，佛像造型尤佳。雕刻風格酷似楊璇，佳品多被宮廷收藏。張先生舊藏
