The lapis lazuli vase is off flattened globular form with splayed feet, superbly painted in gilt on each side with a five-clawed dragon writhing sinuously with scaly body around a 'flaming pearl', the beast rendered with piercing eyes framed by thick brows, against background with lingzhi cloud swirls above turbulent crashing waves, the side decorated with scrolled leafy lotus flowers.
