The finely carved vessel of globular form with deep rounded sides supported on a flared foot, deeply and exquisitely carved through layers of cinnabar lacquer to depict blossoming flowers and corresponding leaves and flying phoenix, the interior of the bowl and the foot lacquered in plain dark brown.
