The stone of an attractive white tone with slight russet and brownish tone mottling,elaborately carved to both faces with mountain landscape scenes, the front depicting nine figures strolling along the winding path busy in various scholarly activities, set amid overhanging craggy rocks and scattered pian trees, the reverse with a various overhanging craggy rocks along the path. The boulder with a fitted wood stand. Qing Dynasty Qianlong period.

唐朝末年, 因朝廷腐敗, 胡杲, 吉旼,劉貞,鄭據,盧貞,張渾,白居易,李元爽,及僧如滿九位老者,退身隱居,遠離世俗,又因志趣相投,結爲九老會, 於唐會昌五年在河南洛陽香山聚會宴游, 因此得名『香山九老』。此件白玉山子為帶皮籽料, 玉質溫潤,兩面以香山九老描繪的景色為題材而琢製, 採用圓雕, 高浮雕, 陰刻等技法, 全器配色和諧, 富有層次, 頗具收藏價值。
