Each chair has a straight toprail continuing through round corners to the backposts, flanking openwork panel carved with stylized shou character mythical beasts, above circular openwork medallions of dragon, each with straight arm with apron and spandrels carved with raised chilong. The soft mat seat above similarly carved apron joining the front legs, the feet joined by stepped stretcher and shaped footrest.
