Of rectangular form and square section, the box consists of one cover and four rectangular trays, all held on the base frame with the side posts carved in relief with a beauty engaging in scholarly activities, joined at the top and reinforced by bat-shape mounts. The top of the cover is finely gilt-painted with a landscape riverside scenery, the top left hand side inscribed with classical poem and dated. Qing Dynasty period.
