Of broad oval shape and raised on a oval foot ring, the body and cover are finely cast in relief with two phoenix, each with backward-turned head and long tails and plumes billowing over body, with a band of mythical birds centered by high relief animal mask, all reserved on dense leiwen ground. The sides flanked by a pair of animal-head handles. The arched handle further cast with stylized mythical beast decoration. The domed cover is surmounted with a rectangular shaped finial. The bronze is of mottled blue-green patina, with malachite and azurite encrustation.
