This set comprises of a tripod censer, a rectangular box, and a vase, each mounted with shaped gilt-bronze plaques of elaborate floral decorations in relief. The censer is mounted with two Buddhist lions, and topped with a pierced cover with Buddhist lion finial. Qing Dynasty Qianlong Period.
此造辦處製爐瓶盒三式,做工精細,所雕花卉,獅獸均栩栩如生。爐、瓶、盒常在一起搭配,三件一組被稱為“三式”,是清代宮廷重要的陳設用品,在書房、廳、堂的几案上均可設置。爐可燃香,瓶插銅鏟、箸,盒可貯存香料或盛放印泥。此三式類似藏品可見於台北故宮博物院。 Commonly referred to as 'san shi' in Chinese, or literally the 'three things', the incense garniture set comprises of three vessels, namely the censer, vase, and box. The box usually stores the incense, while the vase keeps the spatula , and censer is used for burning the incense. 'San Shi' of the present type with exquisitely detailed decorations and supreme quality is typically of imperial origin, and generally made in the palace workshop for the imperial court since Qianlong era (1735- 1796). A similar set is found in the collection of National Place Museum, and illustrated in A Special Exhibition of Incense Burners and perfumers Throughout the Dynasties, Taipei, 1994. 附早年Sydney L.
