This set of four Chinese ink paintings shows the artist's renditions of the bamboo tree. The execution of the drawings is simple but yet elegant. All four paintings bear the artist mark of "GUANQIAO".Qing Dynasty period.

謝穎蘇（琯樵）(1811 - 1864年)，得年五十四歲。福建詔安人。初字採山，別署琯城山樵，三十以後易字琯樵，號北溪漁隱、嬾雲山人、書畫禪。善畫、能詩、解音律、工書法，亦工技擊，喜談兵狎飲。鹹豐七年佐幕至臺南，及解組，寓磚仔橋吳家。後應板橋林家之聘，與呂世宜同遊。因與東家微有爭執，遂拂袖而去，寓於艋舺。寓臺期間約有四年。篆刻入妙，各體具備，因形配篆，獨出心裁，邊款亦佳。
