Of baluster form, the exterior carved with two battlefield scenes from Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, one scene with Lü Bu and Dong Zhuo charging away from the gate, the other scene with Lü Bu fighting against Guan Yu, Zhang Fei, and Liu Bei in front of Hulao Gate, all encircled within key-fret patterns, the remaining space carved with flower and vine patterns. The lid pierce carved, and the bottom with black lacquer. Qing Dynasty period. Provenance: Estate of Thomas Chang of United States
