A WHITE JADE CARVED 'GUANYIN AND CHILD' BOULDER WITH SKIN    清乾隆 白玉留皮送子觀音

Of irregular boulder form, superbly worked to one side depicting the standing Guanyin bodhisattva wearing loosely draped robes, holding a tilted bottle on both hands containing a willow branch, with a boy bowing in a position of deference, with swelling waves crashing against the rocks below, the reverse carved with two bamboo trees issuing from the rockwork and streams of water flowing out from the rocks, the stone of smooth white color with russet skin skilfully incorporated into the design of the boulder, fitted with hardwood stand. Qing Dynasty Qianlong period.
